Matěj Hybš

Matěj Hybš left it late to leave. When his contract at Bohemians Praha 1905 ran out at the end of 2025, the club offered him a new deal, but he turned it down in search of more regular football and instead joined Mladá Boleslav as a free agent at the start of 2026.

The move closes one chapter of a career that began at Sparta Praha, where Hybš came through as a defender and spent five years on the books, winning the Czech First League, the Czech Cup and the Super Cup in 2013/14. Game time was not always guaranteed even then: Sparta sent him out on loan twice, first to Vysočina Jihlava and later to Jablonec, before he moved on to Slovan Liberec in 2017.

A return to silverware followed at Viktoria Plzeň, who signed him on a free transfer in 2020. He was part of the squad that took the league title in 2021/22, though by the second half of that campaign he had fallen down the pecking order and was loaned out again, first to Poland's Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza and then to Teplice. Before those loans, he had made eight league appearances for Plzeň that season and six more in Europa Conference League qualifying.

Bohemians gave him a fresh start in 2023, and he stayed with the Prague club until his contract expired at the end of 2025. Now at Mladá Boleslav, wearing the number 11 shirt, Hybš arrives with a title-winning pedigree but also a recent history of having to fight for a starting place.
