About the player
Matěj Kovář came through the academy at 1. FC Slovácko before Manchester United signed him in January 2018.
That form took him to Bayer Leverkusen in August 2023. Leverkusen won the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal and the DFL-Supercup, and Kovář started the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League final, playing the full 90 minutes as Atalanta won 3–0.
A loan move to PSV Eindhoven in July 2025 turned into a permanent transfer in January 2026, when PSV took up the option to sign him outright. The move brought further silverware, with PSV winning the Eredivisie and the Johan Cruijff Schaal in the 2025/26 season.
