About the player
Matěj Zachoval came through the Slavia Praha academy after joining from FC Sellier & Bellot Vlašim in 2020, a left-footed left-back who worked his way through the reserve side in the Chance Národní Liga, making 13 appearances for Slavia B in the 2024/25 season. He was part of the group that won the Czech youth championship in 2021/22, and helped Slavia B to the ČFL title in 2023/24.
His move into senior football came in February 2025, when he joined Mladá Boleslav on loan for the second half of the 2024/25 campaign, making five appearances for the first team. The switch became permanent from July 2025, bringing goalkeeper Aleš Mandous, David Pech and Josef Kolářík to Mladá Boleslav as compensation for Marek Suchý's departure in the other direction.
Zachoval has also worked his way up the Czech youth international ranks. He was first called up to the U15 side by coach Karel Havlíček, playing at the Pinatar Cup in Spain in February 2020 against the Netherlands, Spain and Ireland. He has since featured for the U17 and U19 teams, including in Czech Republic's qualifying campaign for the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in 2024.
