Mees Hoedemakers

Mees Hoedemakers came up through the AZ Alkmaar academy after starting out at SC Hercules Zaandam, and it was with Jong AZ that he first tasted silverware, winning the Tweede Divisie in the 2016/2017 season. A first-team breakthrough at AZ Alkmaar in 2018 was followed by a loan to SC Cambuur, a move that reshaped his career: he joined the Leeuwarden club permanently in 2020, making 94 appearances and scoring nine goals as Cambuur won the Eerste Divisie title in the 2020/2021 season.

A free transfer took him to NEC Nijmegen in the summer of 2023, where he spent two seasons in the Eredivisie, making 57 appearances and scoring once. In August 2025 he moved abroad for the first time, signing a three-year contract with Viborg FF in the Danish Superliga. He made his debut against Silkeborg IF that same month and scored his first goal for the club in a 3-3 draw with FC Midtjylland in December, going on to make around 25 to 26 appearances across all competitions in his debut season.

In August 2026, he was loaned back to Almere City FC in the Dutch Eerste Divisie for the rest of the season, with an option to buy attached. Viborg presented the move as a chance for him to get more playing time, while Hoedemakers himself pointed to the opportunity to return to the Netherlands and be closer to his family.

Internationally, Hoedemakers passed through the Dutch youth ranks from under-15 to under-19 level and was part of the Netherlands squad that won the 2017 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, though his involvement at that level was limited to a single senior youth cap.
