About the player
Göktüğ Bakırbaş joined the Göztepe academy in İzmir in 2006, signed his first professional contract in February 2012 and stayed until 2021.
His senior debut came in the 2015–16 season. Göztepe used him sparingly: between 2015 and 2020 he played 17 league matches and nine in the Turkish Cup, 26 in all. To gain regular football he went out on loan, first to Manisaspor for the 2017–18 season, then to Ümraniyespor for the first half of 2020–21, from September to January.
In January 2021 he left Göztepe for good and moved to BB Erzurumspor. Göztepe were reported to have kept a percentage of any future transfer fee. He remained at Erzurumspor through the 2024–25 season, and when his contract expired he signed for Sivasspor on a free transfer at the end of July 2025. The signing ceremony was reported on 1 August, and his two-year contract runs to 30 June 2027.
Bakırbaş came through Turkey's youth national teams early. Between 2010 and 2014 he made 11 appearances across the U15, U16, U17 and U19 levels, six of them at U16. In November 2018 he was called up to the Turkey U21 squad for a friendly against Germany U21, though he did not play in the match.
At 196 cm he is a tall goalkeeper.
