Niall Nathan Michael Ennis

Niall Ennis spent his first years in senior football on loan, and he had to recover from injury before that. At Wolverhampton Wanderers, the club he joined as a boy of seven or eight, he suffered two fibula fractures and knee problems. He never played a league match for Wolves, and left in 2017.

The loans that followed were short. He made one appearance for Shrewsbury Town, then played 29 times for Doncaster Rovers and scored six goals. A spell at Burton Albion brought nine appearances without a goal.

The move that settled his career came in January 2021, when he joined Plymouth Argyle on a free transfer. He played 87 league matches for the club and scored 22 goals. In 2022–23 he scored 12 league goals as Plymouth won the League One title. His contract expired that May.

Blackburn Rovers signed him on a free transfer in June 2023. He played 11 league games and scored once in a cup tie, and in February 2024 he moved to Stoke City for a reported £500,000. At Stoke he made 23 league appearances and scored one goal.

Blackpool took him on loan in January 2025. He scored four goals in his first month there, which earned him the League One Player of the Month award for February. Over the loan he made 19 appearances and scored seven goals. In June 2025 Blackpool made the deal permanent, giving him a two-year contract with an option for a further 12 months. In the 2025–26 season he has scored six goals in 26 appearances.

Ennis played for England at youth level: seven times for the under-17s, where he scored three goals, four times for the under-18s and once for the under-19s.
