About the player
Neo Telle came through Cologne's own academy, joining 1. FC Köln's youth ranks at the age of nine and working his way from the U9s up to the U19s. That patience paid off in the 2022/2023 season, when he won the DFB-Junioren-Pokal with Köln's U19 side, beating Schalke 04 4-3 after extra time. He then stepped up to 1. FC Köln II, where the 2024/2025 campaign brought a 3. Liga title.
His breakthrough with the senior side came on 9 February 2025, when he was brought on as a substitute in a 1-0 win over Schalke 04 in the 2. Bundesliga. It remained a brief taste of first-team football: three appearances that season, also featuring against Fortuna Düsseldorf and SC Paderborn, without a goal to his name.
In January 2026, Telle's path took an unexpected turn. He terminated his contract with 1. FC Köln, the club that had shaped him since childhood, and crossed the city to join Fortuna Köln on a free transfer, agreeing terms until at least the summer. The move put him on the other side of one of German football's more pointed local rivalries, trading the club of his youth for its cross-town counterpart.
