Paul Digby

Paul Digby has spent his career one level below the spotlight, since Barnsley first handed him a debut on 27 September 2011, aged sixteen, making him the club's fourth youngest ever player. He had already been named the academy's Most Promising Player twice before that breakthrough, and the early promise carried him through six years at Oakwell, including a loan spell at Ipswich Town that turned into a permanent move.

The midfielder's most productive spell came at Cambridge United, where he arrived on a free transfer in July 2020 and stayed five years, making 198 league appearances and scoring four goals. He was part of the side that won promotion from League Two to League One. Spells at Mansfield Town, Forest Green Rovers and Stevenage preceded that run, with his time at Forest Green including a twelve-match unbeaten sequence in League Two.

Digby joined Dundee on a two-year contract in June 2025, taking the number 8 shirt. He made just 14 league appearances before the two parties agreed to part company in July 2026. He then signed for Colchester United on a free transfer, switching to the number 6 shirt.

At youth level, Digby represented England at Under-19 and Under-20 level, scoring once in three appearances for the U19s, against Hungary, having made his debut for that age group against Estonia. He added three further caps for the U20s and trained with the senior England squad in 2016, though a full cap never followed.
