Pelle Mattsson

Pelle Mattsson is a Danish midfielder. He began his footballing journey in the small town of Marstal, playing for local youth sides Marstal IF and ØBG Fodbold. He joined Silkeborg IF’s academy at the age of 11. He signed a trainee contract with the Danish club in early 2019 and made his debut that same year in the Danish 1st Division.

His time at Silkeborg proved fruitful. Mattsson helped secure the league title in his debut season and later contributed to the Danish Cup victory in the 2023–24 campaign. Over five years, he accumulated 120 appearances and scored four goals, establishing himself as a reliable presence in midfield. This consistency attracted interest from abroad, culminating in a transfer to Norwich City in August 2025. The move, valued at £3 million, saw him sign a contract running until 2028.

Adapting to English football required patience. Mattsson made his debut at Carrow Road in September 2025, appearing in a defeat against Wrexham. He found his first goal for the club months later, netting against Charlton Athletic in March 2026. While he has represented Denmark at Under-19 level, earning three caps, he has yet to make a senior international appearance.

At 184 cm and 74 kg, Mattsson fits the physical profile of a modern midfielder. He is right-footed and wears the number 7 shirt. His development from a local academy player to a Championship midfielder highlights a steady progression rather than sudden stardom. The transfer to Norwich represents a new chapter, with expectations built on his previous output in Denmark.
