About the player
He came through Ajax's academy before joining PEC Zwolle in 2016, and two seasons there earned him a transfer to Manchester City. The fee, reported at up to €3 million, made him part of a squad that won the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and FA Community Shield in 2018-19 — medals collected without ever playing in the league itself. His only competitive appearances for City came in a single FA Cup match and a single EFL Cup match, with loan spells at Anderlecht and then Troyes.
Six months later, in July 2022, he signed for NEC Nijmegen, again without a fee changing hands.
At international level, Sandler represented the Netherlands at youth level, with four caps for the U20 side in 2017 and further appearances for the U21s between 2017 and 2018, but he has not been capped by the senior national team.
