Ruben Kristensen Alte

Viking signed Ruben Alte from Kristiansund on 18 July 2025. Their first bid, just under 5 million kroner, was rejected. The deal was then reported by TV 2 and VG to have been done for a double-digit million fee in kroner. Alte signed a contract running to the end of 2029, and that season he won the Eliteserien title with the club.

He came to that point by a route that began well below the top flight. He grew up in Namsos, played youth football for Bangsund and Namsos, and made his senior debut for Namsos IL, where he played from 2016 to 2018. A short spell at Steinkjer in 2018 was followed by a return to Namsos for 2019.

That July he moved to Ranheim, and it was there that he became a regular. Over four and a half years he made 102 appearances and scored nine goals, leaving in January 2024. Kristiansund signed him on a free transfer that month. He played 54 matches for them and scored eight goals before Viking came in.

His time in Stavanger has since taken him elsewhere. From March to July 2026 he was on loan at Sandefjord, where he made nine appearances and scored once. In September 2026 he went on loan to Viborg in Denmark and has played once for them so far.

Alte plays in central midfield.
