R. van Bommel

Ruben van Bommel plays as a left winger for PSV Eindhoven, wearing the number 7 shirt, and is the son of former PSV and Netherlands international Mark van Bommel. He came through the PSV youth system before leaving to build his career elsewhere, making his professional debut at MVV Maastricht. His move to AZ Alkmaar in June 2023, on a four-year contract, saw him become a key player there, winning the Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month award in February 2024 and picking up a Golden Boy Award nomination that October, with a brace against Ajax among his standout performances.

That progress brought him back to PSV in July 2025, in a transfer reported at around €15–16 million, on a five-year contract running until 2030. He collected a second Johan Cruyff Talent of the Month award in August 2025 and scored his first UEFA Champions League goal that September, against Union Saint-Gilloise.

Days later, on 21 September 2025, van Bommel suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury during a 2–2 draw with Ajax, ruling him out for the rest of the 2025–26 season. He returned to training the following pre-season.

At international level, van Bommel has represented the Netherlands at youth level, with one cap for the under-20s and eleven caps and four goals for the under-21s.
