Radoslav Apostolov

Radoslav Apostolov's move to Dunav Ruse followed one of Bulgarian football's stranger legal detours. In August 2023 he signed for Al-Arabi in Kuwait, a transfer the Bulgarian Football Union ruled had circumvented contract-termination regulations with his then club, Maritsa Plovdiv. The union suspended him from playing for twelve months, and while his registration sat with the Kuwaiti club he was immediately loaned out to Dunav Ruse. In 2024 Apostolov won a court case against the union that restored his registration rights, and that July he joined Dunav Ruse on a permanent deal.

Before the dispute, Apostolov had built a career largely around his native Plovdiv. He came through the Botev Plovdiv academy and made his senior debut there in 2016, going on to make 21 league appearances for the club over the following seasons. Two loan spells punctuated that period, at Levski Karlovo and at Nesebar. With Botev he won the Bulgarian Cup in 2016–17 and the Bulgarian Supercup the following year. He later returned to his home city with Maritsa Plovdiv, where he made 31 league appearances before the move to Kuwait.

In between, Apostolov played for Neftochimic Burgas and Beroe Stara Zagora — where his involvement was limited to two appearances. He also represented Bulgaria at Under-19 level, earning three caps in 2016, including a start in a defeat to Belgium's Under-19 side that March.
