Simon Gustafson

Simon Gustafson made his name at BK Häcken, where he won the Allsvenskan Player of the Month award in July 2013 after coming through at Fässbergs IF. The performances at Häcken were enough to earn him a move abroad two years later: in July 2015, Feyenoord paid around €1.1 million to bring him to Rotterdam. It proved a well-timed switch. Gustafson won the KNVB Cup in his first season there and followed it up with the Eredivisie title in 2016–17, a period that also brought his two senior caps for Sweden, both earned in January 2015 against Ivory Coast and Finland.

Regular football at Feyenoord became harder to find, and a loan to Roda JC Kerkrade for the 2017–18 season gave him a heavier attacking role than he had known before — he scored 10 goals in 33 league appearances. When his Feyenoord contract was terminated, he joined FC Utrecht on a free transfer in May 2018 and stayed there for four seasons.

Gustafson's underage career with Sweden was substantial: nine caps and three goals at U21 level, including a place in the squad that won the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship, plus ten caps and two goals at U19. In January 2025 he moved to Poland, signing for Korona Kielce on a free transfer until June 2027.
