About the player
Samuel Gouet went to the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Cameroon and, a year earlier, was part of the squad that finished third at the Africa Cup of Nations. His senior debut came in October 2020 against Japan. He has since won 25 caps without scoring.
His international career began at youth level. He earned three caps for the Cameroon U20 side in 2017 and three for the Olympic team in 2019.
The club route began at the APEJES Academy in Cameroon, where he played for the senior team from 2016 to 2017. In September 2017 he moved to Austria and joined Rheindorf Altach on a free transfer. His first contract ran until 2020 and was later extended. He stayed until 2021 and played around 99 league games, scoring five goals.
Belgium came next. He joined KV Mechelen in June 2021 on a three-year contract and made 40 league appearances. The club reached the Belgian Cup final in 2022–23 and the Belgian Super Cup final in 2023.
Injuries interrupted the move to Yverdon-Sport in Switzerland in 2023, and he managed nine league appearances. At Politehnica Iași, which he joined as a free agent in July 2024, he was more regular, with 32 league games and three in the cup. His contract there was ended by mutual consent in January 2025 because of the club's financial difficulties.
On 10 January 2026 he signed for FC Hegelmann in Lithuania for the 2026 season.
