About the player
On 5 March 2025, in a Serbian Cup tie against Partizan, Sadick Abubakar suffered a heart attack. He was taken for emergency surgery, where a stent was fitted. He did not play again that season. By June 2025 he had recovered and was back in full training with Radnik Surdulica, ahead of the club's first campaign in the Serbian SuperLiga.
Radnik had won the Serbian First League in 2024–25, the season the heart attack cut short for him. Abubakar had been at the club since September 2022, and the appearances accumulated quickly: 92 in the league by June 2026, with two goals.
He had arrived in Serbia by an indirect route. Abubakar came up at Nkoranza Warriors in Ghana and stayed until 2019, when he moved to Sweden to join Jönköping. That spell produced nothing at first-team level — not a single appearance. In January 2020 he left as a free agent for Smederevo 1924, and played once in the league there before joining Radnički Sremska Mitrovica in the summer, again on a free. Sremska Mitrovica is where the career took hold: 59 league appearances over two years, and one goal.
He has two caps for Ghana at under-20 level. In 2021 he received his first call-up to the senior squad, the Black Stars, but had not made his debut by the most recent records.
