About the player
Samet Karakoç was born in Istanbul and holds dual Turkish and Azerbaijani citizenship: capped four or five times by Azerbaijan at Under-21 level between 2023 and 2024, without finding the net, while a senior appearance for Turkey has yet to come. The left-back's path to Antalyaspor ran through the lower tiers of Turkish football. He started out at Bayrampaşa, moved briefly to Azerbaijan with FK Qabala, then spent two seasons at Isparta 32 Spor before joining Batman Petrolspor in the summer of 2024.
It was at Batman Petrolspor that Karakoç made his name, helping the club win the TFF 2. Lig title and secure promotion to the 1. Lig. That form took him to Antalyaspor in September 2025 on a three-plus-one-year contract, a deal reported at 16 million Turkish lira with a share going to Isparta 32 Spor.
He wasted little time making an impression in the Süper Lig. Playing against Gençlerbirliği, the left-back was named Man of the Match after setting up both goals in a 2-1 win.
