Toma Bašić

Toma Bašić came through the youth system at Hajduk Split, spending the 2014–15 season on loan at NK Rudeš, where he made 25 appearances and scored twice, before returning to Hajduk and establishing himself in the first team. Across three seasons as a regular starter for Hajduk he made 75 appearances and scored 11 goals, form that took him to Girondins de Bordeaux in August 2018.

At Bordeaux he became a fixture in midfield, building a reputation as a defensively disciplined presence over three seasons that yielded 82 appearances and nine goals. That run persuaded Lazio to sign him in August 2021. In Rome he was a regular contributor across five seasons, making 96 appearances and scoring four goals, though a knee injury in April 2024 interrupted his progress and he spent the 2023–24 season on loan at Salernitana, where he made 15 appearances.

Bašić has also drawn on international experience with Croatia, having earned his first senior call-up in November 2020. His time at Lazio was not without setbacks: he was shown a direct red card in a Serie A match against Parma in December 2025. He also dealt with a heel injury. His contract with Lazio ran until the end of June 2026, at which point he joined Venezia on a free transfer, agreeing a deal that runs to June 2029 with an option for a further year tied to the club avoiding relegation.
