About the player
Ten years in ADO Den Haag's youth ranks brought Tyrone Owusu no first-team football, and he had to rebuild his career from the bottom of Dutch amateur football, starting at RKVV Westlandia before spells with SVV Scheveningen and Quick Boys. It was only in May 2024, as a free agent, that he signed his first professional contract, with SC Telstar, and made his professional debut that October.
Owusu's performances were instrumental in Telstar's promotion to the Eredivisie for the 2025–26 season, ending a 47-year absence from the Dutch top flight. In the promotion playoff final, Telstar beat Willem II 3–1 in the second leg to win 5–3 on aggregate, with Owusu providing two assists. Telstar duly activated the option in his contract, and in September 2025 he signed a further extension keeping him at the club until 2027.
On 30 August 2025, in Telstar's fourth Eredivisie match of the season, Owusu scored the opening goal in the 20th minute away at PSV Eindhoven, as Telstar won 2–0 — the club's first Eredivisie victory since their promotion, and their first top-flight win since 1978.
Owusu has not represented the Netherlands or Ghana at any level.
