About the player
The moment that will follow Tom Tony Pouilly around longer than any of his ten Ligue 1 appearances came in a tunnel at the Vélodrome. After RC Lens beat Olympique de Marseille 1-0 in March 2025, he took out a portable speaker and played the song "Les Corons" to needle OM's Neal Maupay. The episode went round widely, not least because some early reports mistranslated the French phrase for "speaker in hand" as "pregnant" before the mix-up was corrected.
Pouilly, born in Liévin, joined the RC Lens academy in 2010 after a brief spell at US Cuincy and spent more than a decade working through the club's ranks. He made 79 appearances and scored 14 goals for RC Lens B between 2021 and 2025, in Championnat National 2 and National 3, before finally getting his senior chance in Ligue 1 in October 2024. He went on to feature in ten matches for the first team that season.
He left Lens on a free transfer in August 2025 to join Pau FC, signing a three-year contract. The move included a sell-on clause for his former club and a priority buyback option.
Pouilly has not been capped by France at any level, and he was left out of the squad when Lens lifted the Trophée des Champions.
