Tom Saettel

Tom Saettel came through the academy at RC Strasbourg Alsace and signed his first professional contract with the club in September 2022. He started that final against the Netherlands, which France won 2–1, and scored in the quarter-final against Germany on the way there, adding up to fifteen caps and three goals at that level before moving on to the under-18s. At club level, his progress ran through Strasbourg B, where he made 47 appearances and scored six goals in Championnat National 2 over three seasons.

His path to the senior Strasbourg side was disrupted when he was struck down by meningitis, an illness that halted his development and meant he never made an official appearance for the first team. He left in 2025 for FCSR Haguenau, also in Championnat National 2, where he scored six goals in around two dozen appearances before departing as a free agent.

His move to Pau FC, in July 2026, came about in an unusual way. With the club under a transfer ban and unable to sign players through normal channels, Saettel won his contract through a contest called "The Voice", set up by content creator Valentin Lienard to find and sign an amateur player. He has not yet been capped by the senior French national team.
