About the player
Vetle Auklend spent the 2025 season inside a squad that won the Eliteserien title with Viking, and he did it as a home-grown left-back from Stavanger who had come up through the club's own academy.
His route was a local one. He started at FK Vidar, moved to Viking's academy in 2019 and stayed there until 2023. The step into senior football came through the reserve side: in 2024 he played 17 matches and scored once for Viking FK II in Division 2, after two appearances in Division 3 the year before. Because he was promoted from within, no transfer fee was involved.
His Eliteserien debut came on 21 April 2024. He played five league matches that year, then seven in 2025, when he also scored his first league goal. By July 2026 he had made seven more appearances, taking his total to 19 in the top flight.
Auklend has also played for Norway at youth level, with three caps for the under-19s and seven for the under-20s as of November 2025. At the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, a Paraguay goal was ruled out after video review showed him being shoved and trampled in the build-up.
A left-footed defender, he has been in and around the first team for three seasons.
