Kristoffer Askildsen

Kristoffer Askildsen was part of the Viking side that won the 2025 Eliteserien title, a season that began for him in the spring, when the club signed him from FC Midtjylland for €350,000 on a four-year contract.

Askildsen came up through the Stabæk academy, which he joined in 2013, and made his senior debut in September 2018. He played 15 league matches for the club and scored once before Sampdoria signed him in January 2020 on a four-and-a-half-year contract. At Sampdoria he became the first player born after 2000 to score for the club.

Ten months after arriving in Genoa, he won his only senior cap for Norway. It came on 18 November 2020 in a UEFA Nations League match against Austria that finished 1–1. Before that he had played for Norway at U17, U18, U19 and U21 levels.

The 2022–23 season was spent on loan at Lecce, who held a buy-out clause that they did not use. He played 21 matches there, 19 of them in Serie A, without scoring. His Sampdoria contract was ended by mutual agreement in July 2024, and he moved to Midtjylland on a free transfer, signing until June 2028. He made 12 league appearances in the Danish Superliga.

Viking have been the setting for his most productive spell in front of goal. He has made 43 league appearances for the club and scored eight times, a return that stands out for a midfielder who scored once in his 15 league games for Stabæk.
