Gianni Ryan Stensness

Gianni Stensness was part of the Viking side that won the Eliteserien in 2025, the club's first league title since 1991. Viking finished one point ahead of Bodø/Glimt on 71 points.

He had joined the club in August 2021 from Central Coast Mariners for an undisclosed fee, and made his debut on 29 August that year in a 2–1 win over Rosenborg. His contract was later extended to 31 December 2027.

Stensness came up through several Sydney clubs, including Pittwater RSL, Collaroy Cromer Strikers and North Shore Mariners, before joining the Central Coast Mariners Academy in 2017. He made his senior debut for North Shore Mariners in 2016 and had a spell at Manly United in 2018. He then played for Wellington Phoenix Reserves and signed for the first team on a free transfer in 2019. His first appearance came on 9 March 2019, off the bench in an 8–2 win over Central Coast Mariners, his former youth club. He made four appearances for Wellington before returning to Australia later that year, joining Central Coast Mariners on another free transfer.

That move brought his breakthrough. In the 2019–20 season he made the most tackles in the A-League and took both the club's Goal of the Year and Newcomer of the Year awards.

His international path began with New Zealand. He played at U-20 and U-23 levels and scored once for the U-20s, against Norway at the 2019 U-20 World Cup. In 2021 he switched allegiance to Australia. He made his Socceroos debut on 24 March 2022 in a 2–0 World Cup qualifying defeat by Japan, and had two caps as of that month.
