El Alto sits above 4,000 metres on the Altiplano. Always Ready gave it a team the city could call its own, having started life across the rim of the canyon, in La Paz, on 13 April 1933.

It moved to El Alto and stayed, and its home ground carries the city's name into the record books for a reason that has nothing to do with football tactics: CONMEBOL certifies the Estadio Municipal de El Alto as the highest stadium in the world. The 23,000-seat ground got LED floodlights, a big screen and a new sound system in 2023, paid for by the municipality rather than the club.

Always Ready's own history has a gap in it. The club won the La Paz league in 1951 and 1957, titles its official records count as national championships, though historians of Bolivian football maintain the distinction matters. What is not in dispute is the 28 years the club spent out of the top flight before winning the second-tier Copa Simón Bolívar in 2018 and coming back up.

The women's side has built its own record along the way, with four national titles.
