Atlanta United 2 spends its weeks in MLS Next Pro, the league the club joined in 2023 after five seasons in the USL Championship, and the job hasn't changed with the league name on the door: get players ready for the first team. No trophy has come with the move, or with anything before it — the side has gone without a title since it started play in 2018 — but silverware was never really the point of a team built to graduate its best players rather than keep them.

Home games are played at Fifth Third Bank Stadium on the Kennesaw State University campus, a 10,200-seat ground. The fixtures that draw the sharpest edges are the ones against Chattanooga FC, a Georgia rival the club's own website calls exactly that, and against Orlando City B, where the needle from the first teams' rivalry carries down a level.

Erik López went out on loan from Atlanta United across 2020, 2021 and 2023 before scoring his first goal for the parent club in May 2021. Others have followed the same road more recently — Ajani Fortune signed a Homegrown deal in 2023 and made his MLS debut in 2024, and Nyk Sessock made the step up to the first team in August 2025 after coming through here. Steve Cooke has managed the side since February 2023.
