Bettembourg

Bettembourg grew out of the same wave of small-town clubs that filled Luxembourg's provinces in the early twentieth century, giving the commune south of the capital a side of its own to follow. The men's team dates to 1927, playing under the name Sporting Club Bettembourg before the club took its current identity.

For most of its existence the club has sat in the country's second tier, the Luxembourg Division of Honour, and its record there is built on two widely separated title-winning seasons. The first came in 1971–72, when Bettembourg still carried the Sporting Club name. More than fifty years passed before the second, in 2023–24, a gap that says something about how long a club can wait between its high points without disappearing from the picture.

The Stade Municipal, holding 2,000, has stayed the club's home throughout that stretch, a ground scaled to a team that has never pushed on from the second tier into the top flight or put its name on the Luxembourg Cup.
