Kjetil Knutsen arrived at Aspmyra in 2018. None of it looked likely for a club founded on 19 September 1916 as Fotballklubben Glimt, renamed FK Bodø/Glimt in 1948 to avoid confusion with a Trondheim side of the same name, the hyphen later swapped for a slash so it would fit more cleanly into printed results.
The club stayed put in Bodø throughout, never merging with anyone — a proposed tie-up with the local ski club in the 1920s came to nothing. Its ground, Aspmyra Stadion, holds 8,270.
That rival is Tromsø IL, and the fixture between them carries its own name, Slaget om Nord-Norge — the Battle for Northern Norway.
