Boevange / Attert

Nobody at US Boevange talks about a single star because the record book at Stade Am Letschert does not have one to offer — the club's list of former players who broke into the national team, or into the top flight, stays blank. What it has instead is a habit of climbing and slipping back. The side reached the second tier and topped it twice, in 1960/61 and again in 1993/94, three decades apart, each time from a level below. Between those two peaks it spent years working through Division 3, winning it four times across the late 1970s and 1980s, and later did the same climb again through the Ehrenpromotion, taking that division in 2006/07, 2010/11 and 2011/12. No single promotion stuck; the club kept finding itself back at the lower rungs and kept finding its way up again.

The Luxembourg Cup never rewarded that persistence. The furthest the team went was the round of 16 in 2021/22, ended by FC Differdange 03, a step beyond the fifth round they had reached back in 1968/69 and little more. Founded in 1946, the club has built its identity less on trophies than on the fixture against Syra Mensdorf, the neighbouring side from within the same commune of Attert — a derby played for local standing rather than for a place in the table.

All of it plays out at Stade Am Letschert, a ground holding around 2,000, in Boevange-sur-Attert, a village whose football club has spent most of its history proving itself at levels well below the country's top flight.
