The club, founded in 1944 by Sadok Boussofara and Mongi Achfar with Prince Salah Eddine Bey among its early backers, still plays as Hamhama in green and white. A second cup arrived in 1985, paired that year with the Tunisian Super Cup, and a ninth in 2001 stands as the last major honour on the record. In between, a run to the semi-finals of the CAF Cup Winners' Cup in 1986 marked the closest the club has come to continental prominence.

Hammam-Lif have spent recent seasons shuttling below the top flight, and in May 2026 they beat Stade Gabésien 3-0 in the promotion play-off final to book their return to Ligue 1. The task now is holding that place, against a division the club once dominated and has since had to fight its way back into.
