EB / Streymur

Streymnes sits on the western shore of Streymoy. In 1993, the footballers of Streymur, who had been playing since 1976, joined with Eiðis Bóltfelag from the island of Eysturoy — a club with roots going back to 1913. The merged side took both names, and the pitch at Við Margáir, tucked beside the water, became home.

Promotion came in 2000. The Løgmanssteypid arrived first, in 2007, and the club held it again the following year — the same season it took the Meistaradeildin title for the first time. A second championship followed in 2012, and by then the cup had been won four times.

The 2008 title carried the club into the Champions League, where the draw sent Manchester City to the Faroes. EB/Streymur lost 0–2. It remains the fixture people bring up first when the club is mentioned abroad.

The superkup run of 2011, 2012 and 2013 was the last stretch of that period. Relegation followed, then the 1. deild title in 2016 and a return to the top flight. Gutti Dahl-Olsen, one of the better-known names to have worn the black shirt and blue socks, came back to the club.
