Two clubs from the same island merged on 6 November 2007.
The merger was itself a second attempt. FS Vágar had been formed on 18 December 1993, won the 1. deild in 1999 and again in 2002, then folded in 2004.
The pattern since has been promotion rather than permanence in the top flight. 07 Vestur took the second division in 2008, the first full season under the new name, then again in 2010 and 2012.
Home is Á Dungasandi in Sandavágur, a ground of about 1,500.
What holds all of it together is the island.
