Gundelfingen

The DFB-Pokal draw of 1992 brought a moment that has outlasted the tournament itself. FC Gundelfingen , then a regional side, hosted Bayer Uerdingen in their first and only appearance in the national cup competition. The match ended 0–1, but the attendance figure—4,500 spectators—remains the benchmark for local interest.

The foundation of the club dates back to 27 February 1920, when twenty football enthusiasts gathered at the Gasthaus zum Kreuz. They formed a section within a gymnastics association, a common structure in Bavaria at the time, before achieving independence on 1 March 1924. Green and white were chosen as the official colours that day. The team plays at the Schwabenstadion, a ground with a capacity of 8,000.

Success has arrived in waves rather than a steady climb. Six wins in the Schwaben Cup define the club’s trophy cabinet: 1947, 1949, 1955, and then a gap until 1991 and 1992.

The rivalry with FC Lauingen is the only one that carries weight locally.
