Homberg

The PCC-Stadion holds 3,000 people. VfB Homberg has played there.

The club as it exists now dates to July 1969, when Homberger Spielverein and Sportvereinigung 89/19 Hochheide merged, though the line runs back further, to 1889. Under the Homberger SV name, the side reached the final of the German Amateur Championship in 1953. Yellow and black, the colours behind the nickname "die Gelb-Schwarzen", have stayed with the club since.

Since 1969 the honours have come in the Niederrhein region rather than nationally: titles in the Verbandsliga, Niederrheinliga and Oberliga Niederrhein in 1990, 2010 and 2019, and in the Landesliga Niederrhein in 1971, 1981, 2001 and 2016.

Stefan Janßen has been the figure most tied to the recent spells of that up-and-down pattern, coaching the club from 2015 to 2020 and returning in 2022. Among the players who wore the yellow and black, Stephan Paßlack went on to earn caps for the German national team.

Local rivalry belongs to Sportfreunde Hamborn 07, and matches between the two are still called the Homberg-Hamborn derby.
