Huntly

Robbie Foster made 88 appearances for Huntly and scored 29 goals before Stranraer, of the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL), signed him in July 2024. Joe Gauld, a defender, has come back for more than one spell, and in 2024 the club took Arran Smith on loan from Peterhead.

The years that decide how Huntly is remembered came long before either of them. The Black and Golds won the Highland Football League in 1929–30, then waited 64 years for the next title. When it came, in 1993–94, it started a run of five in a row that lasted until 1998. They won it once more in 2004–05.

The Scottish Cup in 1994–95 gave that side its biggest day. Huntly reached the fourth round and drew 1-1 with Dundee United in front of 4,500 people, still the record crowd. They lost the replay. In 2007–08 they got back to the same round and went out 3–1 to Dundee.

Closer to home, the games that matter most are against Formartine United, whom the club treats as its local derby.

Christie Park holds 2,200, of whom 270 can sit. It opened in 1921 as Strathbogie Park and was renamed in 1926, when former Provost Christie gave the land on one condition: that the club stay amateur.
