Ironbound

Eddie Moraes Stadium seats about 4,500 people. It is a working-class, multi-ethnic part of the city, and the club grew directly out of it. When the senior side needs another pitch, it has borrowed Jose Marti Field in Union City, which is rented from the local Board of Education.

The club began in 2006 as a merger of two neighbourhood youth programmes, the Ironbound Strikers and the Ironbound Crusaders. Both dated back to the early 1980s. It has won six Super Y League National Championships and four US Club National Championships. In 2023 the academy side also took the USL Academy Cup and the Metropolitan Championship.

Tyler Adams came through the youth ranks and captained the United States men's national team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. John Tolkin, who has played for the New York Red Bulls and the national team, is another product. So is Joey DeZart, now with Orlando City SC.

The senior team is younger. It joined USL League Two in 2023 and has not won a national title. Its regular league opponents include Hudson Valley Hammers and FC Motown. The oldest competitive history in the club's youth football is with Evolution SC, whom Ironbound met in Super Y League finals.

In 2024 the club merged with Sport Club Portuguese Newark, bringing the Portuguese-American community club's senior operations under its roof. The Ironbound has long been a Portuguese-speaking part of Newark, and the merger tied the club to that community.
