Second place is as high as JKS 1909 Jarosław ever climbed: in the 1961/62 season the side finished runners-up in the Rzeszów-Lublin Regional League, then the third tier of Polish football.

The club grew out of Pogoń Jarosław, a branch of the Lwów club Pogoń set up in 1909, and only took its present name in 1938. It carried both dates into its identity when it added the founding year to the club's title in 1999, becoming JKS 1909 Jarosław.

Black and blue are the colours, giving the club its nickname, Czarno-Niebiescy, and the team now plays in Group IV of the III liga, the fourth tier. There was also a handball section carrying the club's name, which took third place at the Polish Women's Handball Championship in 1997 before becoming an independent body.
