Jyväskylä had a football club of its own long before JJK existed. The new club took red and white as its colours, a maroon shirt at home and plain white away, and settled at Harjun Stadion. Locally it goes by Ketut — foxes.
The first promotion to Veikkausliiga came in 2008, Ville Priha both playing and coaching the side up while Babatunde Wusu supplied the goals that got them there. Three years on, under Kari Martonen, JJK reached the highest point it has known: third place in 2011, with Tamás Gruborovics the club's leading scorer that year.
What followed undid it just as quickly.
