«Club M / Les Dodos»
Mauritius have won the Indian Ocean Island Games twice, in 1985 and again in 2003. The side known as Club M , or Les Dodos , plays in red, with white as the change strip. Some versions of the badge carry the dodo, others follow the national flag.
The continental record is thinner. Mauritius qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations once, in 1974, and went out at the group stage. The COSAFA Cup, the southern African regional competition, brought quarter-finals in 2001 and 2004, which was the same stretch of years as the second Island Games win.
That generation is the one that gave the team its record-holders. Henri Speville played 72 times between 1995 and 2007, longer than anyone else has worn the shirt. Daniel Imbert scored 17 goals in 53 matches, the most by any Mauritian.
The Mauritius Football Association, which runs the team, dates from 1952. Its oldest fixture is against Madagascar, and it predates independent football on both islands: the two met in the Indian Ocean Games Triangulaire between 1947 and 1963. Réunion is the other neighbour Mauritius watches closely.
