Mogren

Budva already had a football team playing under its own name when, sometime around 1990, the club took the name Mogren. The club traced its roots back to 1920, decades before that renaming, and played its home matches at Lugovi.

The best years came late. Mogren won the Montenegrin championship twice, in 2008–09 and again in 2010–11, and took the Montenegrin Cup in 2007–08. Those titles carried the club into European competition — spells in the Champions League qualifying rounds, the Europa League, and the old UEFA Cup.

None of it lasted. Debts accumulated, and in 2017 Mogren folded under bankruptcy. An attempt to revive the name as Mogren 1920 was blocked by Montenegro's sports ministry.

The name most tied to that peak spell belongs to Dejan Vukičević, who played for Mogren in the early 1990s and returned as head coach from 2007 to 2010. Before Budva, he had worn the colours of Partizan, Sevilla and Real Betis.
