Oliveira do Hospital

Relegation from Liga 3 in 2024–25 left Oliveira do Hospital back among the district sides of Coimbra, and for a while it was not clear the senior team would take the field at all: after the drop, the club had to appeal publicly for support just to keep football running at the top of its own structure. That scramble says something about the size of the operation behind the badge, which spent four seasons as a founding member of the third tier before losing that status.

The club, known to its own supporters as Os Rubros and, further up in the hills, as Os Serranos, was formed in 1938 in a Coimbra district town that sits inside the Serra da Estrela range. The mountains shaped the second nickname more than any result on the pitch ever did. Domestic honours are thin: a Coimbra District Championship, won in 2017–18, is the one title the club can point to, and its deepest run in the Taça de Portugal took it only as far as the third round, in 2022–23.

Éder spent a loan year there in 2006–07, and Carlos Martins passed through the region on his way to Sporting and Benfica. Neither stayed, which is the usual pattern for a club at this level.

Games are played at the Estádio Municipal de Oliveira do Hospital, in a town that lost thirteen people to the forest fires that tore through the district in 2017.
