Pardubice II

Stadion Pod Vinicí holds 3,000 people, which suits its purpose: it is the training base and second pitch of FK Pardubice, and the reserve side, FK Pardubice II, plays its league fixtures there rather than at the club's main arena.

The reserve team was set up in 2008, the same year FK Pardubice itself took shape from the merger of three local sides, TJ Tesla Pardubice, FC Loko Pardubice and SK Juniors Pardubice. Under Czech rules a reserve side cannot be promoted past a certain tier or enter the Czech Cup, so its purpose was never to chase honours of its own but to prepare players for the first team. FK Pardubice II now competes in Group B of the ČFL, the third tier.

That development pipeline is the club's stronger claim to attention. Pardubice's academy is regarded as one of the best in the country, and among those who have come through its structure is a former goalkeeper.

The parent club carries the nickname Perníkáři, the Gingerbread Men, after the gingerbread the city has long been known for, and the reserve team shares the red-and-white colours. Its closest matches come against FC Hradec Králové B and SK Sparta Kolín, played as regional derbies, a smaller echo of the East Bohemian derby the first team contests against FC Hradec Králové.

What the reserve side has not built for itself is a record of honours: the 2. Liga title of 2019/20 and the Divize C title of 2009/10 both belong to the first team, and FK Pardubice II has nothing of its own to set beside them.
