Polonia Bytom

The ground on Olimpijska street holds barely 2300 people now, and it was built in pieces: an east stand for around 1100 opened on 2 September 2023, a west stand followed two years later. That is the frame the club lives in today — in Bytom, with the blue and red kept as they have been since the beginning.

The beginning is contested territory in the literal sense. Polonia was founded on 4 January 1920, during the Silesian uprisings, and it did not survive the settlement that followed: the club was wound up in 1922 after the Upper Silesian plebiscite. What exists now traces back to 17 May 1945, when players and officials of Pogoń Lwów, displaced westwards, arrived in Bytom and put the name back together.

The second title, in 1962, sat in the middle of the club's most productive stretch.

The youth setup produced national U-19 champions three times between 1963 and 1978, which is roughly where the honours stop.

In 2024 the club wore a one-off yellow and blue kit marking 770 years of the city — a nod to Bytom rather than a change of identity; blue and red stayed.

Three finals — 1964, 1973, 1977 — and no more since, and the last league title is now more than six decades old.
