The 2020–21 season gave Posušje the Prva Liga FBiH title, and with it a return to the top tier of Bosnian football. A first-place finish in the southern group of the Second League of the Federation in 2017–18, then again in 2019–20, preceded the step up the following year.

It was not the club's first taste of a league summit. Between 1998–99 and 1999–2000, HŠK Posušje won the First League of Herceg-Bosna in successive seasons.

Matches are played at Stadion Mokri Dolac, which holds 5,040. The team wears blue and white, the colours behind the nickname Plavo-bijeli.

Posušje was founded on 13 August 1950, in the town of the same name in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
