By then the descents had taken them a long way down. The climb out of the third tier in 2010-11 came on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Sabadell, and the club's most recent trophy, the Copa Federación in 2019, was settled the same way: 1-1 with Tudelano, then the shootout.
The club that won all this began as Levante Foot-ball Club, founded in December 1919. It became Murcia FC in 1922, and in July 1923 Alfonso XIII granted the royal title that stuck.
They are the Pimentoneros , the paprika men, after the crop the region has long grown in quantity.
