Rudar Prijedor

Vladimir Petković spent a single season here, in 1984–85, long before the coaching career that made his name. He arrived at a club that had already moved once: the miners of Ljubija had started it in 1928, and in 1967 the operation shifted from the pit village down to Prijedor itself. The name stayed. So did the nickname — Rudari, the miners — and by now it describes nobody in the squad and everybody in the stands.

The 1992 merger with OFK Prijedor was a wartime arrangement rather than a football one, and it left the club with 1928 on its badge and a rival it had briefly absorbed. The Prijedor derby survived the reunion.

What the older supporters still measure everything against is the run to the Yugoslav Cup semi-finals in 1989–90. Everything after that has been entity football: promotion out of the Second League of the Republika Srpska, then three First League titles, in 2008–09, 2014–15 and 2020–21. The middle one came with the Republika Srpska Cup in the same season.

Gradski stadion Prijedor holds 3,530, which puts the crowd close enough to hear what is said on the touchline. Yellow shirts trimmed in blue, blue shorts.

Aleksandar Jovičić came up through the youth side, which in a town this size is less a development pathway than a matter of somebody's son being good enough. That route is the one the club has leaned on longest.
