Vermont Green FC had matched them 1-1 through ninety minutes; the crowd at Interbay Stadium, a sellout at 2,096, watched the tie settle 5-4 from the spot. For a club that had not existed two years earlier, it counted as a national championship.

Ballard FC announced the women's side on 9 July 2024, alongside the appointment of Tiffany Mallick as vice president, and the team took the field in the USL W League for the first time the following season. Head coach Malia Arrant, who has spent more than 25 years around Seattle soccer as a player, coach and club director, built the group that went 9-1-2 in the 2026 regular season, scoring 38 goals and conceding 11 on the way to the Northwest Division title.

Some of that squad had already been through the club's short history once over. Elena Milam kept goal on the inaugural 2025 roster before signing a professional contract abroad; Aliyah Dockter, a University of Portland midfielder, was a fixture across both the 2025 and 2026 campaigns.

Interbay Stadium held 1,000 seats until a Phase 1 expansion in March 2026 added 267 more in the southeast section, and the ground hosted its first home playoff games that same year on the way to the final. The supporters who fill it, shared with Ballard FC, call themselves the Bridgekeepers, after the seven bridges over the Ship Canal that appear on both clubs' crests.

Across the Northwest Division sits West Seattle Rhodies FC, the club Salmon Bay measures itself against most. No derby name has attached itself to the fixture yet, but in a division this young, a crosstown rivalry needs no further label to be felt.
