Sarıyer

Sarıyer once reached the final of the Balkan Cup with a goalless draw at home and settled it away, 1-0 against Oţelul Galaţi. The runners-up medal from 1995–96, when the team went the distance in the Türkiye 1. Ligi and finished second, sits alongside it.

The name traces back further than the registration date suggests. A youth society formed in the district in 1920 ran football alongside volleyball, wrestling and theatre before money problems broke it apart by the end of that decade. A successor group met at the Sarıbaba dervish lodge from 1932, kept the same idea alive through the 1930s, and lost momentum as the decade closed. It fell to the local district chief, Hüsnü Uğural, and a handful of others to formalise things, and in July 1940 Sarıyer Gençlik Kulübü was entered into the records of the state's youth and sports authority.

What followed was a club that won a 3. Lig title in 1970–71, promotion via the 2. Lig in 2003–04 and again in 2024–25, and seven quarter-final exits from the Türkiye Kupası across the 1980s and early 1990s without ever reaching the final. The one season that stands apart is 1981–82, when Sarıyer won the Türkiye 1. Ligi — the top flight under its old name.

Locally, the fixture that matters is against Eyüpspor, the other club from Istanbul's European shore. Beykoz provides a smaller, municipal edge of competition.
