Tehelné pole in Bratislava seats 22,500 and is where Slovakia's under-19s play their biggest nights.

The side dates to 1993, formed once Czechoslovakia split and Slovak football had to build its own youth structure rather than feed players through a shared federation.

The team's high point came in 2002 in Norway, where a 2–1 win over the Republic of Ireland in the third-place playoff, settled by goals from Tomáš Bruško and Roman Jurko, sent Slovakia to that year's FIFA World Youth Championship in the United Arab Emirates. Spain took the title, Germany finished second, and Slovakia have not gone that far again.

What the shirt has mostly given Slovak football is a pipeline. Marek Hamšík wore it before he ever captained the senior side or moved to Napoli; Martin Škrtel, Peter Pekarík and Marek Čech all passed through on their way to senior caps.
