SVG Reichenau

Reichenau is a district of Innsbruck, and its football club is a neighbourhood side. Founded in the autumn of 1975, with the football section following a year later, SVG Reichenau took the Tiroler Liga title four times, most recently in 2018.

The club's one brush with the wider football world came in the 2011/12 ÖFB Cup, when it reached the round of 32 and beat Bundesliga side Kapfenberger SV 2:1 before losing to FK Austria Wien. In the league itself, third place in the Regionalliga West in 1999/2000 remains its high-water mark.

Sportplatz Reichenau holds about 1,000 people, with a covered stand for 250 added during work carried out between 2010 and 2011. Derbies against Wacker Innsbruck and SPG Innsbruck West are billed locally as the Innsbrucker Stadtderby. Among those who passed through was defender Robert Wazinger, who played for the club between 2006 and 2008.

Alongside the football, the club's Taekwondo section has a following, a reminder that SVG Reichenau was set up as a general sports club before the football side took shape. The most recent Tiroler Landespokal win, in 2024, adds to the club's cabinet as it settles back into the routine of the Regionalliga West.
